Several thefts at AU: Help preventing
AU has recently received numerous reports of thefts. Computers are the primary target, but other valuables have also been stolen. Please help prevent further incidents.
An increasing number of thefts are being reported, and it is important that everyone helps prevent further incidents.
AU’s Head of Information Security, Thomas Kaaber, reports that computers are the items most frequently reported stolen, although other valuables have also gone missing. He therefore asks all employees to do the following:
- Don’t leave your computer or other valuables unattended.
- Lock your computer in a lockable drawer unit at the end of the working day (if possible).
- Be aware of who is in your building and, if you see someone you don’t recognise, ask them what brings them there.
According to Thomas Kaaber, there have been cases in which thieves have taken advantage of AU’s unlocked buildings. Late summer marks the beginning of the academic year, bringing many people into AU’s buildings. This makes it easier for unauthorized individuals to enter and steal items such as computers in broad daylight.
