PET launches new campaign on secure innovation
This week, PET has launched the campaign “Secure Innovation”, highlighting the risk of unwanted transfer of knowledge and technology within Danish innovation environments. The campaign, carried out in collaboration with Dansk Industri, Dansk Erhverv and the Styrelsen for Samfundssikkerhed, will be visible across digital and print media in the coming weeks.
At the Faculty of Natural Sciences, we recognise the importance of research and innovation security. Aarhus University has implemented guidelines designed to protect research and innovation activities from becoming targets of espionage or misuse (the so-called URIS guidelines). However, this must be done with integrity and in a way that ensures our international colleagues do not feel suspected or stigmatised.
“We have a strong international research environment here at the faculty, and this is one of our greatest strengths. It is therefore important for me to emphasise that our international colleagues – including those who come from countries that PET designates as high-risk countries – are an invaluable part of our academic community,” says Vice-Dean for Research, Poul Nissen, and adds:
“We must safeguard security, but this must be done in a way that ensures no one feels under suspicion. Integrity and a safe working environment are essential prerequisites for good research.”
