		The strategy process at the faculty is well underway The process of developing a new faculty strategy to set the direction for NAT up to 2030 is now entering the next phase in which the faculty will continue to work on the useful input received from the department workshops. A number of focus groups have also been set up to provide input, visions and thoughts on the faculty's core narrative and strategy. "For me, the inclusive part of the strategy process, where we start by dreaming and thinking up new ideas, is the very foundation of a visionary strategy. Next, the ideas have to be made specific and then adapted to reality, so that we end up with a joint faculty strategy that is both ambitious and relevant. Therefore, it’s been very encouraging to experience the commitment and willingness to contribute we have seen at the department workshops, and I’d like to thank you all for that," says Dean Kristian Pedersen. >>>

		Three new Sapere Aude research leaders The Independent Research Fund Denmark has just awarded some of the foremost research talents, Sapere Aude research leader grants. At the Faculty of Natural Sciences, the three recipients are Denys James Grombacher from the Department of Geoscience, Peter Scholl from the Department of Computer Science and Claudia Strauch from the Department of Mathematics. >>>

		What have we learned from teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic this spring? A study of employees' and students' experiences from the lockdown period this spring confirms that the rapid conversion to online learning was challenging for many. The successes that were achieved were due to the enormous efforts made by staff and students, the pro-rector stressed. >>>

		Researchers at NAT receive DKK 38 million for research into the green transition Independent Research Fund Denmark (DFF) has just published the 65 research projects on the green transition that have been awarded grants. At the Faculty of Natural Sciences, seven projects are to receive a total of DKK 38 million, and can now focus on this socially important research area. >>>

		Aarhus to become part of the national student satellite programme Aarhus University is collaborating with three Danish universities to establish a national satellite programme in collaboration with the Danish Industry Foundation. A grant of DKK 4.25 million from the Danish Industry Foundation will ensure the launch of the first three CubeSat satellites. >>>

		The cryoEM facility EMBION receives EUR 1.8 million (DKK 13.3 million) from the Novo Nordisk Foundation for large equipment With the grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation, main applicant Poul Nissen and colleagues from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics and iNANO as well as partners at the Department of Biomedicine and the Department of Engineering will be able to establish an infrastructure for Cryo-Electron Tomography (ICE-T). >>>

		Two new professors in theoretical physics appointed Georg Bruun and Nikolaj Thomas Zinner have both been appointed professors in theoretical physics at Department of Physics and Astronomy at Aarhus University. >>>

		Geophysicist receives Villum International Postdoc grant Postdoc Line Meldgaard Madsen from the Department of Geoscience has received more than DKK 2.3 million for her research project. The grant is from the Villum Foundation and it is part of the Villum International Postdoc programme, which is designed to ensure increased diversity in Danish research. >>>

		Distinguished recognition book on the Cold War by AU for science historians Aarhus University Press publishes a revised translation of 'Camp Century – The Untold Story of America's Secret Arctic Military Base Under the Greenland Ice' with the American publisher Columbia University Press. The book is written by associate professors Kristian Hvidtfelt Nielsen and Henry Nielsen from Centre for Science Studies at the Department of Mathematics. >>>
